Exploring the sport for which the region is most famous, the International Surfing Museum commemorates the history of this thrilling activity. Exhibits feature the actual surfboards used by some of the sport's most famous participants, music directly tied to the surfing culture, memorabilia from surfers and special competitions and many items from surf legend Duke Kahanamoku. Visitors can tour the collections and stroll along the surfing walk of fame, where memorial plaques commemorate great events and individuals. Situated in the city itself, just blocks from the ocean, the museum is close to prime surfing ground.
